Cycling Events and Bike Tours

A new year is coming, full of great events that have the bicycle as the protagonist. Our website selects for you ten of the most outstanding.

  1. The Winter Cycling Congress (Calgary, 6-8 February).

Experts in cycling arrived from all corners of the planet gather in the Canadian city of Calgary to exchange knowledge and experiences about the bike and the winter cold. A singular meeting that was held last year in another equally cold city (Moscow) and that aims to demonstrate what some consider distinct: cycling and low temperatures are not incompatible.

  1. Berliner Fahrradschau (8-10 March, Berlin).

The German capital is home to one of the most critical events in the world in terms of urban cycling. The Berliner Fahrradschau shows the latest advances in city cycling: a perfect showcase to show technology, craftsmanship, and, above all, passion for pedals and two wheels.

  1. The London Bike Show (London, 29-31 March).

The British capital also became the cycling capital during the last weekend of March, opening the expected spring. More than 300 brands make up the essential Bike Fair in the UK, which will take place at the ExCeL exhibition center. Exhibitions, conferences, test areas, and all the bikes in the world will be present at the site.

  1. VIII World Bicycle Forum (Quito, 25-28 April).

The capital of Ecuador was the city chosen to celebrate this 2019, the World Bicycle Forum. A meeting that is once again marked by horizontality in its organization and the participatory and democratic spirit, in which cyclists’ activists from all over the world unite to strengthen ties and to share the experiences of the different cities of the globe in the field of cyclist mobility.

  1. Giro de Italia (11 May-2 June).

Some of the greatest cyclists on the planet have already confirmed their participation in the Italian race, in which one more year the mountain will again have a considerable protagonism. It will do so, especially during the second half of the race, which in its 102 editions will leave Bologna to finish in Verona. Five big mountain days, with seven top endings, and three stages against the individual Chrono will make its 2019 edition one of the most epics of recent times.

  1. Sea Otter Europe (31 may-2 June, Girona).

The Sea Otter Europe has become one of the quotations that required the calendar for all cyclists. Sports events, whether competitive or participatory, are one of the basic pillars of an event that will feature cycling events such as the Brava, the Scott Marathon Cup, specific competitions for electric bicycles, or the spectacular Eliminator in the MTB mode. A must for both professionals and amateurs.

  1. Tour de France (6-28 July).

The 106th edition of the cycling round par excellence will once again serve as a thermometer to measure the temperature of professional cycling worldwide. The tour will leave Brussels in homage to the pentacampeón Eddy Merckx when it is 50 years since the first yellow jersey. A program marked by the high mountain, with three goals above 2,000 meters: in the Tourmalet, in Tignes and Val Thorens, and of course with Tissot as official timekeeper.

  1. La Vuelta (24 August-15 September).

This year’s round trip to Spain celebrates its 74th edition and will feature Tissot as the official timekeeper. And again, emotion is assured along its 3272.2 kilometers. This year’s tour will depart from the Salinas de Torrevieja (Alicante) to finish, again, on the Paseo de La Castellana de Madrid. A round that tries to return to the origins and will have eight high stage finals, four of them completely unpublished.
